In 1968 when MST was founded it was entrusted with a mission region comprising of three districts in MP. They were Ujjain, Shajapur, and Rajgarh. Later it was raised to a diocese . MST priests worked in the Dioces and developed most of the mission stations for the diocese. In 2008 region of MST was extended to all the Syro-malabar dioceses of North India. and started to own its own institutions.
Originally limited to the territory of the eparchy of Ujjain (the civil districts of Ujjain, Agar, Shajapur and Rajgarh in M.P.), the area of St Paul Region, Ujjain today is extended to fifteen more districts in M.P. viz. Jhabua, Alirajpur, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Dewas, Indore, Dhar, Bhopal, Sehore and Hoshangabad, Betul, Chindawara, Seoni and Balghat of the eparchy of Shamshabad, and is co-extensive with the district of Nagpur in Maharashtra and other Syro-Malabar eparchies in North India (except the eparchy of Faridabad).
