The MST mission in Odisha was formally begun as a coordination on 15 January 2019, in line with the spirit of the deliberations in the Tenth Ordinary General Assembly of 2018. In accordance with the agreement between the eparchy of Shamshabad and the MST, St Joseph Mission covers the whole state of Odisha. Out of 30 civil districts, the MST holds the role of coordination and inclusive co-responsibility for missionary apostolates in 24 districts and only inclusive co-responsibility for missionary apostolate in other six districts (viz. Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Malkangiri). The mission that started functioning in a rented house in Cuttack- Bubaneswer (on 15 January 2019), later shifted the Coordinator's office to J.K. Pure in the district of Rayagada on 25 January 2021.
